What We Believe

Our church believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus was born of a virgin in Bethlehem, raised in Nazareth and ministered in Capernaum; He lived a human life without ever missing the mark, did signs and wonders, healings and miracles and offered Himself as the perfect Lamb of God for the sin of all men by dying on a cross. Jesus rose, literally and physically, from the dead after three days to demonstrate His victorious power over the power of sin, hell and death. He entered Heaven and is seated at the Father’s right hand and will one day return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Man is made in the image and likeness of God, to be like Him in character. We are the supreme object of God’s creation and although we have a tremendous potential for good, we are marred by a fatal flaw called ‘sin’ which produces in us an ‘attitude’ of disobedience toward God otherwise known as a sinful nature. This fatal flaw separates us from God makes us totally depraved and of ourselves utterly unable to remedy our lost condition, neither by self-improvement nor good works, hence the essential need for the precious blood of Jesus Christ was shed on Calvary to deal with our fatal flaw. This is essential because we were created to exist forever; so we will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union together with God, through Jesus Christ. To be eternally separated from God is ‘hell’ and to be eternally united with Him is eternal life. Both Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence. Eternal life begins the moment we receive Jesus Christ into our life by faith.

Each member of our church subscribes to the belief that Jesus Christ is the one and only true Saviour. He is the Lord of all life and eternal life, and the only way a person can have eternal life is through being united with Jesus, in Spirit, by repentance and faith; this is by grace and not by any of our own works. Our church mutually participates and shares in this new life in Christ. Class or race, education or pedigree, wealth or prestige, tribe or tongue are irrelevant; what is esential is that one be, “born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” Our members belong, as a family, on the basis of corporate fellowship, and mutual love between one another. That love, which is the basis for all relationships, is a core value of our church. We believe every member must be a part of a local church.

The sum total of our church’s purpose, pursuit and endeavour is the increase of the love of God and our neighbour.

All our members believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testament; to be the inspired word of God and known as the Holy Bible, to be the sole source of our faith, the final authourity and the absolute rule of conduct for human life. They have determined to build their lives on Truth as declared by God’s word as the firmest and most stable of any foundation because it declares His design and plan for mankind. We believe the Word is essential to the life of the our church and that it equips, empowers and releases us who want, above all else, our lives to be shaped by the powerful and living Word of God. The alternative to this is clear: if we will not be shaped by the Word of God then we will be shaped by the world.

We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our church both in the life of the believer and amongst us as a body of believers. The Holy Spirit baptizes us as believers into the body of Christ and further, the Holy Spirit infills us as believers. The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God and is present in the world to make those who dont know God’s plan for man aware of their need for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit lives in every Christian from the moment of believing on the Lord Jesus Christ and provides the Christian with power for living overcoming abundant life, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. As Christians we desire and seek to live under His control daily. We believe further, that the Holy Spirit manifests His inspirational, revelatory and power gifts in and through the life of us as believers to minister to the hurt, pain and needs of all mankind. As believers it is our duty to develop and grow the spiritual, grace and ministry gifts divinely bestowed on us.

As a church we practice two essential things that Jesus commanded us to do: 1] water baptism by full emersion after turning receiving Christ into our lives and 2], a rememberance meal [communion]  which represents Jesus’ death that saved us and continues to save us. We believe that we are continually becoming more like Christ and that this will be complete when we finally see Him face to face. This process involves learning how to develop right thinking in our thought processes and co-operating with the power of the Holy Spirit to develop us into the kind of people God wants us to become in Him.

We believe that Jesus Christ died to make provision for the whole man – spirit, soul and body. We therefore believe that God wants every single person to give their lives to Christ and be born again; for our lives to be transformed by thinking God’s thoughts so that we can embrace the best of everything that God has done for us; and pray faith-filled prayers trusting God to meet both our physical and material needs. We believe that since Jesus Christ has dealt with the root issue of negativity in our lives called sin, that we no longer have to eat of the fruit of sin which is spiritual death [separation from God], sickness and disease and poverty and instead walk in the victory He has won for us through the cross.
